28/03/2011So I'm back from the Surrender:11 conference which I attended over the last weekend down in Victoria...other than being freezing cold, it was a chance for me to learn and reflect on a lot of really important stuff especially on prayer...I thought I would share some of it with you all so here is a reflection from day one...
"So its the first morning of the Surrender conference and after I drag my weary head out of the warm sleeping bag, I try to think about what I hope to get out of this weekend for myself and for NRCC...
The haze of my early morning brain refuses to clear and I realize Im missing an essential component of my morning ritual, the wake up coffee. Its at times like this that I realize I am truly addicted, coffee makes the world a brighter, happier, warmer place...
And when I finally get a cup of steaming hot fairtrade instant coffee, everything seems right in the world, never mind that its too wet to pitch our tent, that mud is thick in the outdoor venues or that its still freezing cold...
And this makes me wonder at how much I crave my daily dose of caffine, why dont I crave God in the same way? The psalmist wrote of longing for God, craving for Him like a deer craves water, but in my over-stimulated 21st century drugged life, I crave not the Almighty maker of the universe but coffee??? 30/01/2011Ok, so I have a space for a blog and Ive always wanted to write one, perhaps it is arrogant of me to assume that my musings are of a quality that others will find enlightening, or at least entertaining, but still...potentially here we go.
Its 8.25 in Thailand and we are finishing the NRCC missions trip to Cambodia, what an amazing experience it has been...laughter and tears have been shed by all and Im looking forward to getting home and processing everything that has taken place.
Bring on 2011 (I've been away from Aust for so long it doesnt feel like the year has even started yet :p) 11/04/2010
